Rock Of Ages (Musical)

Rock Of Ages.

Ok, here's a quick rundown. The year is 1987 and Julianne Hough plays up and coming rock chick Sherrie who comes to L.A. and meets Diego Boneta's up and coming Rock star Drew. Romance follows as they find work waiting tables at legendary L.A. Rock venue The Bourbon. The Bourbon, which is ran by a pair of goofy Rock losers Dennis and Lonny (Alec Baldwin and Russell Brand) happens to be under threat of closure from a determinedly nasty right wing campaigner played by Catherine Zeta Jones. I could go on about the plot but well, I wouldn't want to spoil it for you!

Absurdly enjoyable --New York Times

AWESOME! An arena rock jukebox musical that s pure Broadway gold! --Spin

"This, my friends, is what love is. The most remarkable Broadway experience I've ever had. Now, unleashed in all its defiant glory on the Great Whitesnake Way, the grandiosity, the absurdity, the audacity of it all is just too overwhelming, lethal in its charm even for those cloaked in full ironic-detachment body armor. The appeal is universal. It's a generation finally learning to fully embrace its cheese, to say "I Love the '80s" and finally really honestly mean it. A prodigal zeitgeistfinally returning, or a long-aloof populace finally returning to it." --Village Voice

But, this isn't necessarily a bad thing; you get to see Tom Cruise being big haired and outlandish as tired old Stadium God Stacey Jaxx who Dennis and Lonny have managed to rope in to a much hyped one off gig at the Bourbon that will hopefully for them save the club from financial ruin. Up until Cruises' entry into the movie some might find themselves asking whether or not it's a truly, abysmally awful movie or just an ok comedy. It's only when Stacey Jaxx starts jabbing his cod piece at you and hamming it up in every scene that we can feel relieved that the entire film is obviously just one big mock up. The movie was awesome and was really funny, another case of a film where the actors and viewers have fun. Tom Cruise is funny in it, and overall it'll put a smile on your face and you'll feel yourself singing along to some really, really good music. I think it's called having a good time.

Rock Of Ages is a Tony nominated smash hit musical comedy currently running on Broadway and starring American Idol's Constantine Maroulis and Amy Spanger. In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small-town girl met a big-city dreamer - and in L.A.'s most legendary rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the '80s. It's a hilarious feel-good love story told through the hit songs (including several medleys / live mash-ups) of iconic rockers Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Pat Benatar, Whitesnake, and many more. The album was mixed by Michael Barbiero (Appetite For Destruction, ...And Justice For All).
